ECS has dipsticks on backorder at the moment:

ES#:1899235 Mfg#: 06J115611E

Follow this link to see a quick video on where the dummy plug is on the front of the engine which blocks the dipstick port:

I'm not challenging your assertion. I was simply suggesting that it's always safe to be cautious when adding oil because you don't want to overfill.

I wish mine was every 5k....mine is more like every 1k.
At the dealer for a 2nd time after the 1st "fix" didn't work.
I'm old school and like a dipstick so may order that.....luckily I keep a quart of Mobil 1 in the trunk.

the oil level is low and oil should be added but I would bring the car into a dealer and complain of oil consumption. they can perform a new update on you car.

Default excessive oil consumption

There is a TSB for the 2010 A4 for excessive oil consumption. For customers who complain about excessive oil consumption, the dealer is required to make the repair at no charge. I was adding a quart every few thousand miles until I had this taken care of.

What did the fix? What was the cause of the consumption?

Sometimes the MMI reading is finicky. Sometimes after adding oil I have to wait a while before the computer will allow itself to display the oil level. It's the main reason I bought a dipstick. Both for checking when I'm adding oil between changes as well as when I'm changing. I bought mine here:

I have a 2009 A4 2.0T, I looked at the ECS video and it looks like it had the S4 in it. I want to order the dipstick, don't trust the computer, but I can't seem to find the dipstick plug in my car. Does anyone have a far and close up pic they can post?

Thanks

Hopefully someone can help you with the A4 engine layout. The black dummy plug has to be right near the front of the engine like in the video though I'd think? You should be fine going with the A4 dipstick from the ECS site. The S4 dipstick has a different part number which I imagine means the two dipsticks are slightly different in length.

Ok, so it's been about 4 months since I got my last oil warning. Now I got the Service Due and oil warning in the same 24 hrs :roll eyes:

I am at approx. 12500k now, I need to find my service receipt from last year, but I think the warning may be working off of 12 months vs. mileage. I knew I had some oil left from the last time. I had it in my trunk, but it leaked a little I don't know if it expanded from heat and leaked or what. So I had about 1/5 a bottle left, so I added it. I'll check the level tomorrow, but I'm going to make an appt. for next week.

Does anyone know what works well for cleaning oil on the trunk liner carpet?
