Default APR's ECU Upgrade Long Term Testing...

Many of you have expressed interest in our upcoming ECU Upgrade release for the B8 A4. I wanted to take the time to drop a quick update for everyone and to let you know that we are very close as the R&D Department has given us the green light for product release.

We are finalizing a few loose ends and we will be able to begin offering the ECU Upgrade no later than the last week of May. Our Software Engineering Department is tasked with finalizing the uploading of the calibrations and applying our security protocols to the final ECU Calibration Suite.

Arin was gracious enough to get some pics of the 4 long term development cars we have at APR Headquarters:

We have had the opportunity to sample several other B8 A4's throughout the world with different transmissions and trim level packages with 3 of the 4 in house vehicles above being Tiptronic.

We are very comfortable with the Tiptronic's ability to handle the extra power and look forward to additional testing at much higher power levels in the future. APR recognizes that the great majority of A4's sold will be Tiptronic equipped and we are committed to safely increasing the engine power without reducing the life of your transmission.

The future for APR B8 A4 development holds many transmission specific products and calibrations to accommodate both auto and manual gear boxes.

It is more than likely that we will release the ECU Upgrade prior to the end of May but some wanted a date so we picked one we can't miss.[]

What do you mean by "future transmission specific products and calibrations " and if I buy now would I have to pay for future new software versions?

Absolutely. There are several dealers within the Southern California area.
We handle much of the Inland Empire and Northern San Diego regions. You're always welcome to stop by and visit us, or visit your local APR dealership.
Dealership are listed on the website at www.goapr.com

Great news. Any idea how easy it will be to adapt the chip for the A4 to the A5 (considering so much of the drivetrain is identical)?

Thanks, looks like Euroworx is only about 10 minutes away from me. Although when I click on Audi on their page it's all in Latin, haha. Maybe they're going after the doctor market?

Are there high MPG modes on the ECU upgrades? Would be cool to have one when you're going on a long road trip or something, but then again maybe the stock settings are about as high of an MPG mapping as you're going to get.

If you go easy on the go pedal, you should notice a slight improvement in mileage. My APR'd '06 A4 did better than 35 mpg on road trips at @ 70 mph.

OTOH, wot applications will send your mileage south.

+1 - the only way to meaningfully change MPG is to change your driving habits. If you're on a long road trip and want to maximize your MPG it's pretty easy to achieve an improvement in MPG assuming there's not much traffic (sensible stuff like keeping an even speed, not braking much, pulsing and coasting, etc).

Certainly not. Anytime we update a calibration you are entitled to the update at no extra charge.

We are developing more products specifically for the tiptronic transmission platforms which is something we only did minimally in the past.
