Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms

<a href="http://www.leasecompare.com/quick_quotes.php?show_make=Audi"><b>Compare Lease Payments for Used Audi Models HERE</b></a>

Use the following formula to calculate a lease payment:

(Cap Cost - Residual Value) / Term = Depreciation
(Cap Cost + Residual Value) X Money Factor = Interest
Depreciation + Interest = Base Monthly Payment

Here is a great online publication about leasing: <a href="http://www.autoleaseinsider.blogspot.com/2007/03/auto-lease-insider-introduction.html"><b>Auto Lease Insider</b></a>.

Default Back in Sept. 2005, my 2006 2.0T S-line had 75% residual vs. 64% now (24 mo. 10K per year)

I suppose if you add S-line to the 2008 model, the residual drops another 1 or 2%, bringing the difference to at least 12%. That's a huge drop!

Instead of offering zero interest financing (0.6%), AFS needs to subsidize the residual values. With these poor residuals, even zeron interest will not make the cars competitive with BMW and others.

Default I agree that Audi would have to subsidize residuals to be lease competetive with BMW but....

they aren't going to do it.

Audi's overall NA sales have increased every year for over a decade. They are growing nicely and it would not make financial sense to, artifically, inflate residual values just make leasing more attractive.

Default They are making the B7 2.0T competitive by reducing the capitalized cost

The lease specials they are currently running on the B7 work out to reasonable monthly payments by making the capitalized cost several grand below the MSRP.

If they keep these same lousy residuals and not lower the capitalized cost on B8 leases, leases will not be viable. There will always be some die hard Audi fanatics who will pay $150-200 more per month to lease a B8 over a comparable BMW 3-series, but AoA will not be able to keep the sales numbers up by simply relying on that crowd. The average Joe who leases a $40K car pays close attention to the bottom line.

Everybody keeps saying that BMW subsidizes their lease residuals. If that were the case, wouldn't they be losing money in the long run?

Default BMWFS has a great remarketing system ...

through their dealers that "require" them to take a number of vehicles on off-lease.
