Bi xenon adapter, it' s simply plug & play?

To upgrade from halogen to bi xenon, I understand I need a bi xenon adapter to support different pin lay-out.
A couple of adapter are available on market and they seems additional wiring work required on dash.
Is wiring work necessary to prevent failure warning sign or it just can be plug & play without wiring change?
