Total agreement.
I haven't researched this much, but if the 335d has the same/similar auto trans as the 335i [which is not shared with the 328], that would make an auto 335d even more easily accepted...the BMW ZF is probably the best torque-converter based automatic on the market.

Funny, this season's Quattro Quarterly says the diesel TT is only available as a manual...
for the same reason you mentioned. That was a 2.0Tdi though, in a different car.

335 Xi Touring would really get my attention, esp in light of no 6-cyl manuals in any B8 A4
according to my dealer, at least in the next year or so
Basically they said if I want an A4 with a manual transmission, it will be a 2.0 sedan. No avant, not even a 6-cyl sedan.......
