Default Brakes...

so the wife's car is brand new and I did my first extended drive in it today. No hard driving yet, as I was not unaccompanied (heheh). But noticed something about the brakes that I also recalled during our earlier test drive (of a demo, not our vehicle)...it's almost impossible to come to a seamless stop, say, at a stoplight. right when you think that the car has completely stopped, there is what feels like a slight 'shudder' for a tiny moment thereafter. Anyone notice this?

I don't remember it in any of my current or previous vehicles, or even other recent Audis I've driven (e.g. S5, B7). Just part of the bedding in process of the factory brake system (I hope)?

Default Same issue with mine at first...

Like you said, after I would come to a "complete stop" there would be a slight hesitation but this never happens anymore (a little over 2000 miles on mine) so I figure it was because the brakes were brand new...

Default This is not brakes - it is shift to the 1st gear

This is not related to brakes. It happens when the car shifts to the first gear. In my opinion, it shifts a little late - it likes to stay in 2nd all the way until the complete stop. When it shifts, the sudden increase in torque makes the car jerk. If you learn to anticipate this (or force the shift to the first gear with tiptronic) you can stop smoothly.

Hmm, does it seem bad enough to warrant a software fix from Audi?

Default I wish...

There's a also a problem when the transmission does not shift timely when going downhill. I understand the logic of engine braking, etc. but when accelerating from a slight downhill, I expect a normal shift logic. No need to stay in second until 3500 RPM.

Again, I use paddles to force my way of shifting. I think the transmission logic deserves some software tweaking.
