Can the 6 disc CD changer be easily swapped out for the SD card reader?

You could just get a USB cable and plug any card reader into that
There are a variety of cables that you could plug into MMI. You would have to swap out your iPOD cable every time you use the card reader but I think it is still better and cheaper than swapping the head unit. Or instead of SD cards you would then be able to use USB memory keys which do not have a 4 GB limit of SD cards.
