Had a 00 a4 for four+ years, 45k miles with no issues, even though it now has a bad rep. Had an 04 s4 for 10k miles, no issues. Now on my new a4 for 3.5k miles and no issues.

I've had some good experiences with other german brands as well (bmw & porsche) as well as some minor niggles, especially on the 06+ bmws. The audis don't look any worse to me, if not better.

'01 A4, '06 A3, and now a '09 A4. Also, my wife has had two of the VW New Beetles during that time. Never had any major issues. Would fully recommend Audi products.

'98 A4, '01 A4 Avant, now a '10 A4 Sedan. The longer you keep them the more they cost to maintain (timing belts). Still I have zero regrets and didn't even cross-shop another brand. I'm addicted to Quattro. I'm loving the '10 - it's a whole order of magnitude better than the B5 it replaced. Just a great car to spend time in.

Switched from Volvos to VW Passats to Audis - both the Passats and Audis have been better than the Volvos, and are much better to drive overall, The latest addition, '09 A4 Quattro, is an excellent car, and is matched by excellent service from the dealer - their service manager lives nearby, so he picks up my car when its due for service and drops it off in the evening - and this is all for free since we have the Audi Care program.

Can't go wrong with an Audi - we have neighbors with MBs and BMWs - they both spend much more time in the shop (and complaining about their cars)!

P.S. Also had an Acura Legend for 15 years - very reliable, but a very bland car to drive...

My 2010 A4 is my 10th new VW/Audi product since 1999 and I purchased a 2002 CPO TT coupe 5 yrs ago. The TT has been bullet proof and not once left me stranded or with costly repairs - knock on wood! Actually not one of the oher cars left me stranded or were at the dealer for anything major.

I had an 03 and 04 A4 1.8T. The first was traded in at 65,000kms in under 2 yrs of driving and never missed a beat.

My current A4 now has just shy of 8,000kms in about 2 mths and so far nothing but good things to say.

I had a deal on a C300 4matic lined up for my next car but I just didn't feel excited about it. Amazing car and am very lucky to be in the situation of deciding "do I want the Benz or Audi" but at the end of the day I just new I would be much happier in the Audi and I am. Fit/finish, size, level of equipment etc all feel much better than the other cars I was looking at.

Icing on the cake is that I get slightly better mileage with the A4 2.0T than I did on the 07 Passat 2.0T that I traded in. Considering the A4 is heavier and has quattro that was a pleasent suprise. The new 2.0T is a great engine.

Have you decided on what you are getting?

Good luck. Truth be told you can't go wrong with what is being offered in this segment.

Well I was pretty set on the A4 but now leaning hard towards the A5. Biggest problem is there are very few Prestige trim vehicls A4 or A5 - and even fewer A5 with the 2.0T.....so its pretty hard to 'shop'. Looks like I will have to order but I don't like waiting 90 days for delivery

Nothing but good stories from me...

I have 9,000 miles on my '09 A4 and it has been flawless so far. My '98 A4 is now at over 191,000 miles and has been rock solid for the 11+ years that I've owned it. I really wouldn't need to keep the '98, but I still enjoy it too much to part with it. There are probably more reliable cars out there, but there are very few that are as satisfying as an Audi.

Good thread. I am also considering coming back (had 2003 A4) to the Audi line. Last two years in a Lexus IS. Was concerned about the steering wheel shudder but it sounds like that's been resolved in MY'10 (correct?)...

With Audi, I love the AWD, styling, fit/finish, fuel efficiency, Bang/Olufsen option, etc.

Unfortunately, one of my biggest obstacles has nothing to do with the car itself, but rather the local dealer. I last dealt with them four years ago when I leased a Passat--very frustrating experience. Understaffed, so tough to get appointments and no loaner program. Was supposed to be sold to new ownership, but deal appears to have fallen through.

Anyway, I still have a few months before I need to make a move so who knows what might happen...

How has your IS been? I'm also considering the IS250 - but it's lower on the list. Much smaller, rides stiffer in my opinion...but its cheaper than the A4 - also more available.

The IS has been great. I have the 350, so dropoff in power going to an A4 is something I need to consider seriously while test driving. Overall, the Lexus has been a wonderful car--reliable, comfortable, great quality...

So why not stick with Lexus? Haven't ruled that out completely, but the simple truth is that I want something new . I lease a new car every three years, usually trading in at around 30 months.
