On the tobin going north, eithere I hit something or got too close to a jersey barrier or something was in the road near the barrier. I heard a bang, then TPMS started going off, good thing because it didnt feel like too much, I drove cautiously to the next exit (winthrop ave) because I didnt want to just pull over on Rte 1. and I was in disbelief..i guess....have a dent in rim and hle in tire where it blew. It will be hard to identify if there was anything in the road.....

Now I'm wondering if there's a defect in the sidewalls of the Pirelli P6's we got?? My rear wheel didn't hit anything - just a loud bang when the front tire blew. Thought it was a pot hole but couldn't figure out how the rear wheel avoided it. Hmm...

That's exactly what happened to me in RI on I-95 in April. Same left front Pirelli tire and Prestige wheel. The only difference is I was lucky to avoid any wheel damage. Tore a 4" gash in the sidewall of the tire though (was your damage to the sidewall?). I ordered the tire from Tire Rack - no one at the time had the size I needed locally.

I also live in the Boston area and invested $499 in tire and wheel insurance for 3 years when I bought my CPO 2007 S-Line A6 3.2. New England roads suck big time! Good luck getting it all fixed.
