It will be hard to identify if there was anything in the road.....

That's exactly what happened to me in RI on I-95 in April. Same left front Pirelli tire and Prestige wheel. The only difference is I was lucky to avoid any wheel damage. Tore a 4" gash in the sidewall of the tire though (was your damage to the sidewall?). I ordered the tire from Tire Rack - no one at the time had the size I needed locally.

Now I'm wondering if there's a defect in the sidewalls of the Pirelli P6's we got?? My rear wheel didn't hit anything - just a loud bang when the front tire blew. Thought it was a pot hole but couldn't figure out how the rear wheel avoided it. Hmm...

YOu got lucky, the wheel was the worst part of it...will find out tomorrow if it's dead, not too many places stock it....and it cost about 440.00

I also live in the Boston area and invested $499 in tire and wheel insurance for 3 years when I bought my CPO 2007 S-Line A6 3.2. New England roads suck big time! Good luck getting it all fixed.
