Default Do you think the B8 will have a full size spare?

one of the the things i love about my car is that it has a full size spare. I like the fact of if i do need to change my tire i can do so in 20 min and be on my way with no worries, with a space saving spare it can only go a maximum speed and looks dinky.

Anyone agree?

thanks sean

Default I agree, I love the full size, but I imagine as a cost-saving scheme, they would

drop it. Or only give a steelie... My B6 Ultrasport had a full 18" ultra rim on it... felt good when I rashed on of the other rims.

Default Agreed. Although run-flats seem to be where it's all going.

Which I dislike. My flat tire needs are better served with local driving and a full-size spare. Not to mention the price of having to replace run-flats.

Default That's the trick BMW has used to keep weight gains modest on newer models

I am not sure how much extra each RFT weighs relative to a conventional tire, but I know that my B7's full-size spare and alloy wheel weighed about 50 lbs. BMW has also eliminated the jack and lug wrench which shaves a couple more pounds. You are pretty much screwed if you get a flat. I know some BMW owners have opted to replace their RFT's with regular tires but then you need to buy a spare which takes up half the trunk, plus a jack and lug wrench.

I am not happy about it since replacement RFT's cost about 250 bucks each right now. I am hoping the prices go down some before I need to buy a new set.

Default I like them, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a mini, or they use run flats.

It's too much weight savings to pass up, especially given the emissions rules coming.

FWIW, the UK website shows no spare tire options or mention of runflats.

UK pricing & specification guide on Audi uk website confirms a space-saving spare. Why oh why do manufacturers insist on these?

Default I took out my spare. Total weight saved is 53lbs. I also use the space for storage too.

I carry plugs with me and fix a flat as I have insurance and replace my tire.
I also am not a fan of run flats.
