I am (finally) ready to order my new B8 AVANT 2.0 TFSI (211 hp) Quattro
Not quite sure whether I should go for the manual or the S TRONIC - I have to admit that I am leaning more towards the latter
They are both available here in Greece
All opinons/suggestions/remarks are welcome

They are offering the 2.0 TFSI Quattro with the new S TRONIC transmission over here
Much better than the the tip - better performance and economy c/w the manual

Automatic transmissions have improved quite a bit. A nice feature is that you can probably get the paddles shifters for times when you want to have more control.
For longevity and durability, I think the manual would be the way to go.
From which manufacturer does Audi source the Stronic transmission? ZF?
Let us know what you decide.

if you have to drive in a lot of stop-and-go (like I do here in Los Angeles), then get the s-tronic. Otherwise, it's up to you. I'd probably choose it regardless because I'm lazy, but you may prefer manul. Also, I'm guessing the s-tronic is a fairly expensive option- though may pay for itself in resale (at least here in the US where few people want a manual). Like Jack said, test drive both if you can.

At the age of 45 and after 27 years and 8 Audis with MT in Australia/UK/Greece it is the first time I am looking into an automatic
- better performance
- paddle shifters give you the option to 'shift'
- better economy
all of them with the S tronic ( I wouldn't consider tiptronic or multitronic)

It really seems that Greece gets the 7 speed S-Tronic in the A4 while Germany only gets the 6 speed Tiptronic. Maybe they need to test the new transmission first in a lower volume market before they feel comfortable releasing it in Germany (not even talking about the US were we are not ready yet for a fuel efficient double clutch transmission).
