so i have a 2009 a4 quattro that i bought used.. and i see the engine coolant is under the minimum line.. does anyone know which coolant to use g12++ or g13?

Porky, it's likely printed right on the coolant bottle.

I have an '11 A4 and I think the coolant is purple, but most of these are interchangeable now, except the old blue-green stuff.

I know I see these products at Advance Auto Parts, probably Autozone, too, with the Pentosin brand on it. The VW dealers used to sell small topping off bottles, maybe the Audi dealer does as well.

well yea i know that is printed on the bottle.. but is just i don't want to chance it by putting the wrong type of coolant in.. i did read on ECS tuning that G12++ and G13 is basically almost the same is just the g13 is more eco friendly.. but if you say that most coolant are now interchangeable then i'll probably just put in the g13 since that is the successor of the g12++

I think others have said if you go to the dealer they're ONLY selling the G13 at this time.

When I had my coolant flush done on my 2009 A4 some time back, I had them drain all the G12 and replace it with G13. No idea if it was G12 or G12+ or G12++. Prob ++ given its 2008 build date.
From the charts on on https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...s-g13-2853616/ it seems you can top off any of the G12 variations with G13.

Several years ago when my kid had a 2009 I bought a gallon of AF from Audi. I still have it and I can get the part number but it is G13. The color is kind of a pink/violet . Any OAT type antifreeze will work.
