So I noticed that almost every time I get home and turn off my car, the engine cooling unit (I don't know the technical name, used to be called an intercooler on my Volvo) turns on...is this normal? I only noticed it turning on with my 07 A4 after I had pushed the engine really hard or was racing but I hear it come on way more frequently with the 09...does anyone know the deal?

Mine does the same thing ALL the time...I just assumed it was normal because of the small turbo engine, but now I'm curious to hear what others have to say about this.

Seen the same thing after a test drive. Something that wasn't on the previous A4s but were available on the VWs using the previous 2.0T.

Mine does this all the time also. Even on cold days last week, here in Canada.
I'd say no worries about it. Seems to be part of the cool down system for the new 09s.

Not a problem. I hear the fan almost every time I park the car in the garage. The manual says that the fan can even go on when the car is parked under the sun, and the heat accumulates in the engine area.

My B6 did not and neither of my B7 loaners. I'd be a little curious about this if it's snow something stanard. And a little let-down if that's a sound I'd have to hear on a regular basis. Doesn't sound like a luxury feature to me. =/
