Default Engine Oil Alternative for B8 2.0T

Hi,

I have been using Mobil One 0w-40 for my 2010 A4. Is there any Castrol GTX oil I can use for my car?

Someone told me the car burns more oil while using Mobil One. I used to Castrol GTX oil for all my previous cars and I loved them.

I just wondering if Castrol makes any engine oil for Audi B8.

Thanks

Castrol has oils meeting the 502.00 spec. I believe the M1 0W40 is the easiest to purchase.

Autozone used to sell the Castrol (NOT GTX) Syntec 5W40, that was 502.00. Not sure if it still exists - - they've had many name changes as of recent.

Your VW or Audi dealer certainly sells Castrol 502.00 oils at the parts counter.

Castrol "GTX" won't be able to meet the VAG spec.

I've been using Castrol 5W-40 fully synthetic on my A4 and Q7. However they are getting harder to find so I might switch back to the Mobile 1 OW-40 which is now available in 5 qt jugs from Wal-Mart.

If you prefer Castrol you can use the oil selector on their website, http://ew5.earlweb.com/search.php?si...e=18&brand=189, to determine which is right for you. For a 2012 A4 2.0 Quattro they recommend Castrol EDGE 5W-40.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I would need to look around for Castrol oils for my car. Hopefully I can find them.

Is this the one? It doesn't say it is for European cars.

I think that one carries the 502.00 spec. Just verify on the rear of the bottle prior to purchase:
