First Long Road Trip
Just returned from first long road trip... Amherst, Ohio (west of Cleveland)to Boston -- 1500 miles round trip. Car performed flawlessly and confirmed for me why the A4 is such a great vehicle. At the first fill up (with only about 50 miles to go left in the tank), I recorded 37.3 mpg on the trip computer and 35.8 the old fashioned way. Those results were achieved even though I had driven for 2 days around town before the trip, fought rush hour traffic for the first hour, had A/C on continuously and had the cruise set to 74 mph. Hit torrential rains about 50 miles out of Boston and, despite seeing a number of cars struggling with hydroplaning, the Quattro soldiered through effortlessly. On Saturday, I drove my brother's 1972 Triumph TR6 for a bit to get re-acclimated to driving in its purest form and then gave him the keys to the A4 while I hopped in his new JCW MINI for a road rally for two on some great twisty roads between Newton and Sudbury, Mass. On the return trip, I drove my A4 and it road the curves like it was on rails, comparing favorably to the MINI's go-cart handling despite the Audi's size and comparative refinement. All-in-all, the trip confirmed that the A4 is an elegant long distance cruiser that can morph into an extremely competent sport sedan at will.

My MPG's must be broken! I got (32 per computer) 27.5 in reality on a 1100 mile trip this past weekend. I do however have a tendency to go slightly faster than 74...
Edit: Columbus, OH to Greenville, SC. Some twisty mountain areas in there.

nice
Nice mileage. I'm doing 3300 miles over 12 days at the end of July (Dallas, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Traverse City (MI), Chicago, then back to Dallas), looking forward to getting some QT on the open road.
