How do you like the aluminum inlays?

I've had both the wood inlays in my A6's. I love the aluminum in my Avant, now.
Looks great with the light gray interior and meteor gray outside.
Just something different and not better or worse IMO.

Truly an eye of the beholder/appeal of the materials item, but differing insight appreciated none the less.

My point of view:
I don't see a benefit with small pieces of wood in a car.
I avoid shiny/gloss surfaces in the car, as much as I can, to minimise refections in the windows and in my field of vision.
I'm OK with the aluminium inlays.
(The shiny part that gives reflections in the side windows, interfering with the view in the side mirrors, is the glossy frames around the air outlets.
I have covered the gloss rings around the speakers on top of the dashboard because of the irritating reflections they did create.)
I avoid any kind of light colour on the dash board to minimise reflections in the windshield. I have a black dash board but still get (somewhat) disturbed in certain light conditions by reflections in the windshield from the defroster outlet on top of the dash board.

I really like my aluminum inlays, with the black leather interior. It reminds of my old
1967 Porsche 911, looks pleasant and sporty.
I had a B5 S4, with the gray wood inlays and white interior, that looked good, but they do not use that same color of gray ash anymore. The woods now all have a brown shade.

The wood is a must if one has a beige interior. The aluminum clashes with it quite a bit. Looks fine in gray and black interior cars though.

Those grey+wood pics look really good. I like how the seats and plastic are different colors - everything flows pretty nicely.
My current A4 is black interior w/ aluminum. My replacement A4 on order is black interior w/ wood. I used to not like the wood at all (same opinions voiced here) but it's grown on me. I like both now.
