Hi, having trouble with timing on a 2009 2.0t. in a previous post I was informed that changing the front seal would require coming into contact or manipulating the timing chain in some way. If anyone knows how it's moved or touched while replacing the front crank seal please share. Thanks in advance.

It depends on how they remove the crankshaft seal. The seal is in the timing chain cover . The common way is to remove the harmonic balance and pullies on the front of the crankshaft. Then pull the seal out and replace it. If there is a problem and they need to remove the timing cover to get the seal out then you will expose the timing chain. The tech would have to be careful to not damage the chain or tensioner when reinstalling the cover. If they did not remove the timing cover then the chain would be untouched.
