I was expecting a little bit more than 240 hp from a chipped 2.0T...

Not sure if this is any indication of what we can expect, but ABT engine tuning will be available for the 2.0T in the Audi Q5 in December. According to their press release,
<i>"...the 2.0 TFSI is suited perfectly for the SUV from Kempten: thanks to ABT Power, 211hp (155kW) are turned into sporty 240hp (177kW)."</i>
No mention of torque improvement. But this raises a couple questions for me: Is this representative of the 2.0T's tuning potential (software only) for regular car applications, or did ABT optimize the tuning for SUV-duty only? I notice that ABT doesn't have engine tuning information for the 2.0T A4 on their website yet (just the A4 1.8T and the diesel motors).
In any case, is 240 hp consistent with everyone else's expectations? I was personally hoping for a couple more ponies, but I know I could be making an apples/oranges comparison that may not even be valid for the (North American) A4.

When it comes to chip tuning, I don't necessarily think squeezing out the most HP possible is the best thing for the engine. There's obviously a reason the Audi engineers tuned the engine as they did, not only for short term gains, but also long term engine life.

. . .is that torque is ramped up STEEPLY while horsepower is only slightly bumped by comparison.
My 180HP TT was only bumped 15HP (less than 10%) while torque was raised by nearly 50% (stage I).
Now, I don't know what the upper limits of the new 2.0T are without any HARDWARE (that is ONLY with electronics), but I would assume torque will be increased substantially AND turbo lag will become more evident than it is now (which is, er, barely evident if at all.)
The turbo boost will be increased, fur sure -- but as I recall, the MASSIVE increase in torque will be less linear than the stock set up.
Having said this, I must say, the chip's effects were, as I like to say, WEAPON's GRADE!
Now I'm not suggesting HP isn't important, but, overall, here in the US of A, torque is the thing we lust after.
Me? At this juncture, I have no plans currently to chip. I'd rather go for the sexy looking and somewhat performance enhancing dual exhausts.

Audi already managed a 50 lb-ft of torque increase over the old 2.0T. Question is, will B8 chip gains be lower than B7?
However if gains do end up being immense when does the overengineering of the tansmission (MT rated for 258 lb-ft & AT 428 lb-ft) and differential (rated for 295 lb-ft) become a factor?

More like a highly tuned B7 2.0T motor.
"Compared to the engine it was derived from, the two-liter power unit has undergone extensive reengineering and strengthening to ready it for operation in the TTS - overhauled areas include the engine block, the cylinder head, the pistons, the connecting rods and the turbocharger, which can build up as much as 1.2 bar of relative air pressure. The intake and exhaust systems have undergone elaborate honing to allow the refined four-cylinder engine to both breathe freely and generate a powerful, resonant soundtrack. An optimized and highly efficient intercooler lowers the temperature of the compressed air, producing a crucial increase in the quantity of air supplied for combustion."
