Default Interior fan noise

Has anyone noticed that their interior fan (2009 A4 B8) makes a whistling noise at certain fan speeds? I have the climate control set to auto and whenever the fan speed reaches a speed setting of "4" it makes a higher pitched whistling noise - pretty annoying.

Is this normal fan noise or something I should be taking to the service department to have a look at?

Mine doesn't whistle at any speed. Have the dealer check it out.

Yes it does! Let us know if the dealer has a fix. I am not due to take mine in for a while.

My '09 did the same thing, and it seemed to only come from the passenger side vent...

the bird underestimated the power of the A4 B8 and tried to fly across.....he didn't survive.

This had been driving me nuts on my 2009 A4 since September 2008...

There is a TSB out on it, make the dealer fix it.

Can you please post the TSB number. It really helps when you take the car in. It seems the dealers do not dig much to find TSBs but when you point it out they find them. This was the case with my TCU update. It did not exist till I emailed them the TSB number and then it was oh ya bring it on it.

Turned out to be quite straightforeward. For any who care, the procedure is below:

Remove right side dash end cap

Remove torx screws which hold the glovebox

Remove three tork screws inside upper glovebox

Remove two tork screws holding tray under glovebox

The glovebox is now loose

Remove the two electrical connectors attached to the box, set the disconnected glovebox aside.

The fan is now clearly seen in the cavity

There are two hex head screws holding the bottom cap. Remove those along with the electrical connection to the fan.

The fan motor and blower cassembly can now be lowered out of the housing.

You're done.

Not sure where to find the TSB number, my closest dealership service center sucks, Audi Manhattan.

Amazingly, whatever they did, didn't really fix it. The problem came back after 2 weeks.

This is one of the few things that makes me happy to lease. Not my problem, except for the 36 months I have the car.
