I know that 18" OEM wheels are 18 X 8,I believe the offset ranges between 43 and 45.
If you install 19" OEM wheels the measurements are 19 X 8.5,I believe the offset is 45.The tires on these wheels are 255/35.I would like to know if I could install 255/40s on wheels that are 18 X 8.5 with a 45 offset???

I don't see why not. The 255/35-19's on a 19x8.5 +43 S-line wheels fit fine, so you should be right about the same diameter, width, and location. This is always helpful to compare:http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp
