I have about 900 miles on my 2.0 car and in the last week I only got 18.44 miles per gallon in combined city/highway driving. I have been driving very moderately -- no fast starts or sudden stops.
I know the engine is not broken in yet but this figure seems pretty low, nonetheless. What are the rest of you getting?

I am very pleased with mileage thus far and it seems to improve with each tank.
I drive 33 mile r/t to work of 1/3 is neighborhood and the rest is state hwy @55.
2.0t now at 1500 miles and seeing about 24-26 combined avg. This is coming right off the trip computer which is not completely accurate info. Fill ups are @13-14 gallons and roughly 75-125 mile rage left on the t/c.
If it makes a difference I am running shell 91 in the Denver, CO area.

I've driven my A4 over 3200miles so far (within 4 weeks of my purchase) including a 2000 miles weekend trip... and few 30 miles round trips to work. Overall the trip computer shows 24mpg for the life of the car. But the best I've got while one my long trip was 31.3mpg (but as per my calculation it gave around 28mpg). Well for me this economy is really really good for the level of performance I get out of it when I need it...
Moreover don't expect too much fuel economy just b'cose you are feathering the throttle, it does'nt matter, what matters is as long as you stay away from 1,2, or even 3rd gear you'll get better economy. And as many less shifts as you can and as little breaking as you can (of course safety is first).
"A4Driver", just take your car on a freeway and rest its trip(1) computer and keep driving at a steady speed (say about 60mph) for 10miles or so... you will see the avg. economy WILL touch 27-28mpg easily...
BTW I've got 27-28mpg on my trip computer in the first 300miles.. and I use 93 oct. gas.
Hope this info. was useful

I bought my 3.2 used with 600 miles on it. I now have 5,500.
The day I bought it, I reset trip computer 2 and haven't reset it since.
My daily drive is 20 miles each way with my average driving split about 70% highway/30% city.
My trip computer2 shows avarage fuel economy over the last 5,000-ish miles to be 27.2 mpg.
Considering that the computer, generally, reads roughly 2 mpg optomistic, I'm averaging about 25 mpg, long term in my 3.2.
That's only about 1 mpg less than I averaged long term with my B7 2.0T with, perhaps, a 60/40 highway to city split.
I'm very satisfied and I'm sure you will be too, in another 5-6k miles.

My commute is mostly two lane highway (60 - 65 mph) and I've been averaging about 30 mpg since it was new. The best I've gotten was 31 and the worst was 30 so it's pretty consistent. I now have 2500 miles on it and have not seen any change yet. The computer typically measures 32 mpg, but it calculates out to 30.

Just returned from a road trip - San Francisco to Portland. Essentially all freeway. Mostly on cruise control @ 73 or 77 mph. This includes some significant mountain passes on I5. Air conditioning needed for most of the trip (107 in the valley). Overall average was right at 30 mpg. Avant premium sport package, just shy of 10,000 miles after trip. Both trips were essentially non-stop - love the sport package.
