Default memory seat module

Purchased a used A4 sedan. Memory seat buttons in door are all stuck in the down position. Anyway to loosen these so I can actually get the memory option to work?

Sometimes the switches suffer from a "soda splash" when your big gulp lid pops off and douches the door.

The stickiness almost glues the moving parts of the switch.

Take the panel off and remove the switch assembly. Soak it a few minutes in a pint of isopropyl (99%) alcohol. This will dissolve the sugars and return the mechanical functions to the switches. It will also clean the contacts too.

I'd have to go out to my car and double-check, but I don't remember these buttons being mechanical buttons that have an up and down position. I thought they were all just momentary push buttons, with a light to shown which function was active. This could be an electronic issue rather than a mechanical issue. Or even a user issue since it's a new car that you may not be familiar with yet.

The only up/down button is the on/off button. position 1/2/set are clicky.

Regretfully, the Stop (OFF) button is continually down & lit.
