Mileage per tank
I read on here some folks pulling 500+ miles from one tank of gas with an A4 Quattro. I have a 2010 CPO with only about 10k miles on it. I used my trip computer to see how many miles I'd get from a tank. I used 91 octane. I had about 360 miles on the trip when the 20 miles remaining figure came up. So I'm measure about 375 ish per tank? I would say about 50% of that driving was all local. Can someone comment as to whether or not this is normal and ok, or should I be getting more mileage? Oh and btw when I fill up my tank the miles remaining only goes to 425. So how does someone realistically get over 500 miles? Thanks in advance!

I don't think it is possible without "hypermiling", or you are reading reports of people with diesel engines.
My experience is that I can get 375 on my usual drive from the OC to Burbank, a bit more on a trip to Vegas without traffic. The best I ever did was a trip to Baghdad-by-the-Bay (San Francisco) where I filled up at the top of the Grapevine and managed 450 miles driving 65 mph.

2.0T quattro.
1) I always full up V-Power at shell and my car has never been on other gas station NEVER.
2) I always use cruise control like 80% time of my driving. seriously lol
3) I don't hard accelerate.
4) I get 500+ only on long trips.
5) Mixed i get always 400++ Never less than 400.
So if you get 380 that means u push your car really hard or use crappy gas maybe ?

My total tank readout is usually 450 - 540 Miles Per Tank.
I average 26 mpg on mixed city-highway driving.
Pure highway, I get 33+ mpg.
I've got a 2009 2.0T with Quattro.
There's something seriously wrong with that.. although you are doing short drives.
I think you should fill the car up. Go cruise on the highway for 2 hours. Go fill up again, and do a manual calculation on gas used versus miles. What do you get?
Do that before you go to the dealer.

You guys have got to be in the minority though. Getting 500 miles is ridiculous. I used 93 before too from Shell and get 375 - 380. The fact your talking cruise control as well means your highway driving. I'm mostly local. Thanks for the heads up on not getting topped off when I fill up. I'll make sure next time.

The tank size is 16.9 gals so to get 500 miles on a tank you would need to avg. a little over 29MPG and that would mean you would drive until the tank is empty. Audi claim is 21MPG city and 27MPG highway for a 2009 A4. Overall avg is around 24MPG. No one is getting better then 29MPG avg regardless if you are using 93 or 91 or 87 oct. gas. The 2011 8speed gets a little better mileage but still won't do 500 miles on a tank. Considering all mfg. claim optimum mileage which is above actual you should get somewhat lower.

It would have to be steady highway driving for most of the tank to get over 500 miles in an A4. Throw in some city driving and you won't break 500.
The most economical speed is around 55-60mph. I think you will get about 34mpg doing that. But I don't think anyone has the road or patience to sit at 60mph for 8+ hours!
Above 60mph, the wind resistance starts to reduce gas mileage. Over 80mph I think it will go down to around 27mpg. Slower is better, but you need to take care not to impede traffic. So I usually just set the cruise on 70-75mph and I get around 30-31mpg in my A6 2.0T FWD CVT. (EPA rating is 25/33).

I drive a cruise on 72 mph. I get 33+ mpg on the highway with Illinois summer gas, IN SUMMER. It's not that hard.
You guys are all comparing your gas mileage like oranges and apples. Canada fuel is not the same as Texas fuel. And we're all talking gas here, not diesel.
Cold weather gas sucks and does cut your gas mileage. Same with comparing Minnesota winter gas to Illinois summer fuel. The additives are different to prevent gelling, and help it vaporize-ignite easier on a cold start.
Apples to Apples people...share more information about how you measure, what you measure, and when you measure.
