MMI version - Nav vs. Non-Nav
I have a 2011 Quartz Prem+ with Titanium pack on order.
Im considering adding NAV, but not sure its worth the extra cost as I wouldnt really use the NAV function. I like the idea of the color display in the driver display, back up camera and HD radio. Not sure how I feel about the controls around the shifter.
Besides that, what are the major differences between the display / stereo on the NAV and Non Nav cars?
Is the NAV MMI 3g and the non-nav MMI 2G?
Ive also read MMI 2g can use the bluetooth audio cable while 3g cant?
I think I have a couple weeks to change my order. Production week is slated for 4/16.
Thanks!

Yeah, I wish there was a bit more clarity in the brochure too.
One thing I asked about is HD radio technology, which I believe is ONLY available on the Nav Plus MMI package. Can someone confirm this?

the dealer did confirm that you get HD radio on the NAV. Ive also read you get a different display and interface for music, ipod etc on the NAV version but looking for more clarity.

HD radio and Sirius Traffic only available with Nav, also backup camera and proximity sensors.
Higher resolution display with the Nav as well, which facilitates the DVD play (car parked only, unless VAG'd).
I didn't initially plan to get the Nav package, but am now very glad I did. Quite a bit of bang for the buck actually.

I have Sirius on my non-nav, no MMI concert system.
My understanding is this: Nav = MMI. No nav = no MMI. But the MMI system includes capabilities like back up camera, bigger/better LCD, DVD playback, internal HD for MP3 storage, etc. These aren't available on the non-nav/no MMI radio.
Peace,
alk

If you do not order the nav, it is non-MMI - it is just a normal radio with a color display.
If you order nav, the controls are moved under the gear selector.
2008-2009 = MMI 2g
2010-2011 = MMI 3g (2011 adds HD radio)
The big difference between non-mmi and mmi is mmi uses fiber cable to communicate with its "brain" which is located in the trunk. The non-mmi unit is self contained in the console...
