I think it was posted once before. The correct link should be: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html
I would never cross-shop the 2 cars. That metallic beak on the Acura is hideous.

It is a shame that the new TL is so heinous looking, because it's a great car in many other respects. If it were a bit smaller and less ugly, I might have considered it. A loaded TL SH-AWD comes with a 300 hp V6 and lots of goodies and is similar in price to my 4-cylinder S-line A4, so on paper the TL may seem like a better buy but when you compare the two in person the A4 just seem like its in a different league.

I actually work for Honda/Acura, and could have had a substantial discount on a TL. Still, I bought the Audi. The car is so ugly, and as ryanPA says, it just doesn't cut it when you compare the two in person.
Still, it would be a worthy car if they fixed the looks and put it on a diet.

Do you have a family by chance? How is the comfort for you/your family in the A4, compared to the TL?

I concur. I drove both I am glad I have an A4 sports package. Acura is expanding the "beak" to all their new models. They must think is is "brand identity". I think it is cranial-rectum inversion (head up ****).

It's just me and the wife, with no kids now or in the future, so a spacious car wasn't really a priority. She has a Honda CR-V for hauling the dog, so I didn't feel too bad about buying something other than a Honda/Acura.

Also, after 12 years with the A4 I was used to Audi interiors, and the Japanese styling of the TL interior just didn't appeal to me (acres of buttons). I do get grief around the office, but it's good-natured since everybody who looks at my car secretly (or not so secretly) wishes they had one. Acura doesn't offer a coupe anyway.
