Default Is Nav Package worth it or not?...

I am doing a straight up buy, so for me it's $2,500 not a $20/month financing difference.

If not, I could put that $2.5K towards a hand held nav + a new watch, etc.

Default I think it is worth it..

I got it and I am definitely happy with my decision.

The way I looked at it was that I want to probably keep this car for a while and will take it on road trips for sure! So the integration of the nav reduces the hassles of a 3rd party nav system.

Obviously it's not the most advanced system out there, but having MMI on the center console and the streamlined integration of the system is well worth it in my opinion..makes the car just feel more "complete". I love just being able to pull up a POI and having the phone numbers all there and just push call to make a reservation or query! Definitely slick!

Of course nav is not a necessity..but I think if you're going to be keep the car for a while it's worth the price

Hope that helps!

Default How often would you use it?

I have a Garmin that I might use once every 2 or 3 months...for me the built in nav just wasn't worth it, not to mention my wife can use the Garmin in her car when needed, or we can take it on vacation to use in rental cars.

Default Expensive toy...

I know WAY too many people who forked over the big bucks, played with it for the first couple of weeks after purchase and then hardly ever used it again.

Default I agree, plus I have an iPhone 3G...

I don't often need directions, and when I do, I can just map it on my iPhone. I had no interest in the back-up cam, so $2500 for the convenience of nav was just too much in my opinion.

Default for me it's worth it

I have had NAV in the last few cars I have owned and it is definately worth it to me. When driving a rental, or a friends car, I feel lost without it - literally. I don't necessarily use it all the time, but it is convenient many more times that you would expect (after having it before you begin to notice). The Audi integration is pretty darn good. It isn't the most intuitive, but in my opinion it is better than most of its competitors. Lexus is sort of thought as the benchmark system, but I personally think it's pretty bad. Parents have it in a current year RX.

Default Pros and cons

Pros:

- Integrated with the car - cannot be stolen (unless the complete car is stolen)
- Integrated with wheel sensors - better accuracy
- Integration with Bluettoth (nav will stop talking when you're on the phone)
- Integrated interface (with MMI)

Cons:

- totally overpriced (my Garmin is $200 including maps)
- map disks are totally overpriced (you can buy a complete Nav system for a lot less money than the upgrade DVD)
- Linked to one vehicle only (my Garmin travels with me when I rent cars)

For me personally, it's definitely not worth it. The inconvenience of having to take my Garmin out to not have it stolen is balanced by the significant price difference.

Default Either way

If it came on the car I'd use it. I like the "cleanliness" of the integrated device, but I'd prefer a touchscreen.

I use my current portable NAV device only about four times per year, so I'm fine with not having the integrated version.

Audi's Nav is way better than these two, + you get rear sensor and rear camera!!!
