Question about the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
Quick question to 2010 and newer Audi owners:
I have an 09 Prestige A4. While driving this past weekend my TPMS monitor went off. It freaked me out and I immediately pulled over in a parking lot to inspect all my tires. Luckily it was just a false warning and I reset the TPMS. I guess one of my tires lost a few PSI that I couldn't notice and trip the TPMS alarm. My question to 2010 and newer model owners is has the TPMS been updated any? Does it tell PSI of each tire or which tire is low when the alarm goes off? Mine just gives the low tire icon on the dash and you have to guess which tire is setting it off. I'll probably check all tires later with a tire gauge.
Thanks for reading.

No my 2011 is the same as yours, just says which tyre has changed .
But doesnt say pressure or much else.
Mine went off the other day, had a nail in the middle of the tyre and dropped 12psi...

RX, no, 2010 and newer cars utilize a sensor-less system. The ABS computer is looking for a change in rotational velocity, etc.
The older (sensor-based) system is somewhat more accurate compared to the newest system. However, the newer system is far simpler and is not a hassle for those doing seaonal tire changeovers.

- Rubber valve stem = sensor-less design
- metal valve stem = in-wheel sensor design

I am in Canada and my 2009 did not have TPMS, but it had the proper ABS module, so I took the instruction from DavidB8 WEB site and went to a local garage where they had VAG COM and had them enable the indirect TPMS !
They charged me $35.00 and programmed the remote windows and sunroof opening/closing at the same time.
Works great, but you have to loose about 25% pressure for the system to detect it. It tells you what wheel.

Ahh, that's right. I've heard of others re-coding and enabling an indirect TPMS system. I think it only works on much newer cars.
Was TPMS strictly an option in Canada?
