I just found a very nice 09 BMW 328xiT Sport Wagon with CPO at a local dealer. It's got all the options that I want and the price is reasonable. However, I can spend just two or three thousand dollars more and get a brand new 2010 A4 Avant that is similarly equipped.

Do you have any compelling reason why I should take the B8 Avant over the e91? Please help me out here! Thanks.

The biggest reason I can think of going with the Avant is that it's not a BMW

Quattro.

The torsen Quattro system in the B8 avant is proactive whereas xDrive is reactive.

You can't get sport suspension on BMW wagons.

The only reason would be if you need more room in the car or want mushy steering.

The Audi is larger inside than the BMW. There is more cargo room. I am tall, and the visibility rearward is better in the Audi. The all wheel drive in the Audi is light years ahead of the BMW old fashioned differentials. The better torque split in the Audi means you can take turns faster and with more predictible respomse.

The interior materials are nicer, and the Audi turbo on the 2.0 is smooth and seamless. The Audi lift system can change the cam profile as the revs go up.

Everyone will have their personal favorites when looking at the car's lines, lighting, and layout. I can't say either is better because that is a choice the buyer can deceide best.

A new car also allows you to order it just the way you like, and Audi will make a decent concession if you pick up your car in Germany. Nothing better than leaving the factory gate for a run on an unlimited speed highway.

I just can't imagine taking factory delivery of a Lexus or Hyundai.

Also, the B8 2.0T is highly tunable, if that's something you might be interested in doing. Regardless, it is a torque monster even in stock form.

I actually went with the E91 over the B8 Avant. Since Audi refuses to bring over a manual transmission wagon, then I will take my business elsewhere. Also, you cannot beat the silky smoothness of the Inline-6. I just got my E91 a few weeks ago and love it much better than my last two Audis (2006 A4 2.0T Sedan and 2007 S4 Avant).

As long as you're happy then it's all good.

I thought I'd jump into a 3 series Touring but when I did the test drive and inspection I found that the "Touring" description is a total lie.

The A4 Avant hasn't got the largest space in the world but it puts the 3 series touring to shame. That alone ruled it out for me.
