I'd say STFA, but the answer itself is in this very thread.
As for "did anyone try it?" No, we've all been talking about it, but nobody's bothered to try it yet. [facepalm]

I picked up my car about 6 weeks ago and SDHC does not work in it. I really wasn't expecting it to work, but if it's a software version issue thought it was at least worth a try.

SD cards that fit the US Audi are a legacy device for old cameras and MP3 players that do not support the SDHC format. It should be a simple matter to flash the hardware, if it was designed for that possibility. One big problem is that car companies make new cars, they are not interested in providing new software for existing cars. Another thing car companies do is keep secrets about their electronics. If a competent shop could repair modules and radios, it would cut into their business of selling a $50 circuit board for $1,000.
In the US market it is not possible to find new 4GB SD cards, because every maker is building SDHC 4GB cards. The difference is in the way the memory is organized, and the type of formatting required. The only SD memory available is from old stock, or from commodity chip makers.
I was surprised to learn that the new Audi SUV will play DVD movies on the dash (with the nav option), but it will not play video from the SD slot. What made me laugh is that there is "feature" that blanks the screen, but allows the audio to continue if the car is moving above a certain speed. When you slow down enough the video comes back on. So if you drive slow, you be able to watch the novellas, and just what we all need, the Trekkie's will be watching Star Trek at the light.

Well, I bought a 16 GB SDHC card and it works! I have software version SW 0301 in my car. Those that haven't had any luck might want to have dealer update the MMI software.
