Seems like some A/S5s do this and I read on Uk forum that those dim the lights but don't turn them off. Just curious.

Default Yes it turns the DRL off when the turn signal is activated, you can have the DRL stay on by using a

VAGcom and changing the programing. quite a few people have done this with there A/S5s

Default Yes, they are designed to do that, but it can be changed via VAG COM...

...the reason the LED shuts off on the side of the turn indicator that is signaling is to supposedly improve visability of the turn indicator. However, one could argue that the bright LED on the other side still overpowers the little yellow blinking light, and may still confuse other drivers as to which direction you are turning.

I have seen the A5/S5 with both LEDs active even when signaling, and the turn indicator is still visible IMHO.

In any case, if you have access to a VAG COM (if you do not own one, maybe someone local can help you), go to the Central Electronics module and recode using the long coding helper. There is a check-box designed to turn on/off the LED "winking" feature. I've done this for a few S5s locally.

Default Boston Driver...

Are you really in Boston?

I just received my A4 on Tuesday and am looking for someone with a VAG COM to change the blinker/led issue and also make the needles sweep upon startup.

If you are in boston, can we arrange a meeting to do this?

It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Don't forget to recode the auto window/sunroof open/close as well. Very handy.
