I have silver aero bars that have a symmetrical front and back.

On page 3 they shoe a similar aero bar but the back is chopped off. Any benefits to this bar?

I had the rectangular Thule load bars in the past and find the silver aero bars to work much better. They have a rubber trim piece that fits well, they look nicer and everything that I need to fit has been made to work. I had to create a custom plate to get our Thule Sidearms to mount onto the aero bars.

What is the total cost for a setup for the avant? What are the dimensions for the aero bars?

My existing rack components are all Yakima and they don't yet make an adapter. I'm doing a bit of research to see how best to proceed. Eventually I expect Yakima will make a clip and I'll switch back but I need something that will work at least temporarily. Apparently Thule makes the factory Audi racks for our Avant that are available from dealers in the USA. I also understand that Thule has recently begun to import at least the clips for the system shown in the pdf I linked to and they are being sold under the Thule name in the USA but they are not yet shown on the Thule web based fitment charts. The particular link I posted is from the Thule site in Sweden, Swedish language pages. I posted it as it clearly shows how clips should interface with the new Audi roof rails. I've asked my son to do a little research - he lives in Sweden - regarding costs. It may take a few days for him to respond as he is rather busy. That will not help most of you, unless my son decides to become an exporter to the USA.
