Default Time for new battery?

It's -20C in Toronto today, got into the car and barely was able to start it up... Got home, connected VCDS and it looks like I'll be getting a new battery tomorrow:

I knew the car was acting funny for a while, just did not have the time to scan it - looks like for 2 months I was driving with the battery Energy Management activated:

Since it's a 2009 A4, 4.5 years on the original battery is not bad? I could get a decent battery charger, but don't think the current battery is worth charging?

Im assuming this is Key on engine off reading correct? I dont have alot good to say about VW/Audi batteries, 3-4 years seems like all they get. I would recommend an interstate battery. I belive VW batteries at least used to be made by Excide, worst battery manufacture out there, Everstart walmart batteries are Excide.

Yep, key on/engine off. I'll check the dealership tomorrow, the OEM battery is Varta (it should have the BEM code, I'll need to update it to get out of the Energy Management mode).

For the free world there are a lot of battery labels, but the guts come from just three manufacturers. Delphi makes AC-Delco and some EverStart (Wal-Mart) models. Exide makes Champion, Exide, Napa, and some EverStart batteries. Johnson Controls makes Diehard (Sears), Duralast (AutoZone), Interstate, Kirkland (Costco), Motorcraft (Ford), and some EverStarts. Johnson Controls also owns Varta (automotive) and makes OEM batteries for VW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, and the smaller fry. Johnson also makes the Optima brand which is good for racing but is snake oil in a passenger car.

So, if you like Interstate, realize they come from a different teat of the same cow as VAG batteries.

I got the battery from dealer ($140 CAD). It's ENERTEC. Looking at their site, they mention that Johnson Controls supplies the batteries, so I coded it as VARTA (VA0 - since there is no code for ENERTEC).

Not sure if "JCB=JCI/JCB" was for Johnson Controls?

BUMP!!
Same thing here.

Does anyone have an ENERTEC Battery in their car that was coded by the dealer or is the original battery?

Just need the Battery Vender code which can be found here
here VCDS (screen 19-CAN@gateway _> Long Adaptation -> Channel 4 -> Battery identification)

It seriously couldnt make any real difference.....if its got the same ratings as the old one how is it different? And somebody please explain why does it matter at all it being coded to a certain batteries make...That sounds completely retarded. If its the same size and cranking amps why would it ever matter.....yes because the ECU knows the difference between 2 different lumps of lead with electrolyte in them because the label is different.

I can't say for certain who makes them, but our Audi batteries are delivered in an Interstate truck by an Interstate guy. Everyone here, myself included gets our personal batteries from the Interstate guy and we have had excellent results.

It seems some of these cars are delivered with AGM batteries and other are not, like mine.

You can read the battery code "option" on that label near the spare tire. IIRC, my code is JOR indicating an 80Ah battery. Seems like cars going to Canada get AGM as OE, larger capacity.
