I can't seem to use it correctly because in my mind, I should pull on the shifter to shift into the next gear, and push on the shifter to shift into the previous gear. However, Audi built it the opposite direction. Anyone else find it not intuitive? Is it just an electronic connection that could be switched?

Back in the allroad days (2001+) it used to be opposite and it kind of seemed to be *** backwards to me. I think the new design is more intuitive. I've always associated + with forward and - with backward, IMHO.

BMW has their Tip system the opposite of Audi. I found it made more sense for my brain when I was driving it...but when I chose my A4, I opted for the paddles so I didnt have to get the Tip system backwards! lol

I guess you haven't driven a manual then...You step on the brakes, the deceleration throws you forward and you grab the stick along the way and throw it into 3rd to add engine braking...

My U.S. 2002 allroad manual tip shifts the same way as my 2013 A6 and my recently sold 2009 A4; push to shift up, pull to shift down. Same with my long gone 2001 A6.

As far as I recall, all Audis and VWs have had the same shifting directions. In fact, Audi was one of the first to establish manual shifting with automatics. Whoever else came along and did it opposite, established the "other way." For this reason alone, I give Audi the nod.
Push up to shift up and pull down to downshift seems awfully logical.
Also keep in mind before manual automatics, one had to pull the lever down to get into lower gears like "D3, D2, D1." Again, pulling down is how it's always been for lower gears.

Even going into 'Sport' mode you go down on the shifter and then down a gear,or two. But I do agree that I too would find the opposite more natural. Kind of like shifting a Motorcycle.
