Hey guys,
I have a 2009 A4 Avant (so tranny is the 6 gear tiptronic).. Car runs perfect when completely warmed up (I've been driving for more than 30min)....but before this time...if I'm in 3rd gear or higher, the downshift from 3rd to 2nd and the downshift from 2nd to 1st is not as smooth as it should be...as in definitely noticeable.
Any thoughts, or if anyone has experienced the same thing..I'd love to hear about it.
Thanks!
Kris

Kris, welcome aboard! Do you know how many miles are on this car?

Kris FYI,
Same shift behavior as my 2010 Avant w/8k miles. In the past, I heard of possibly a dealer TSB out there to do a reflash of the transmission control module software for an update.
My trans will be checked at 10k.
Do a forum search on this forum for TSB# is 2021193/1
"reflashed transmission could take up to 1,000 miles for problem to completely go away" quoted by another poster.
Hope this helps

Just an update to the shifting issue mentioned above.
I had the software update (as part of TSB# 2021193/1), and the tranny is shifting smoother than ever!
This was the issue!
Thanks for all the advice.
Only thing that bothers me is the fact that Audi charges for this update (I'm past my warranty now)...and they are obviously admitting to the problem, if they have to update software! ...
Anyway, thanks again for the suggestion.

Audi argued with me, but i forced them to do the transmission software update with the above TSB number. it solved the problem for the hard shift for me.
the tech kept telling me it wouldnt help and that i couldnt make them do software updates unless if audi required it.
I told him that I could call AoA and then he could do it, or since it was a valid TSB and I had the problem he could fix it now.
