I just bought a new 2008 a4 SE quattro sedan and would like to eliminate the chrome trim around the windows and grille.

Is it advisable to paint the chrome window trim? Does body color look better than black?

Regarding the grill, is the chrome trim metal or plastic? Is it better to paint only the trim black to match the grill or paint the grill and trim body color? If I paint the grille, I will also need to paint the two lower inserts where the fog lamps are. Is it safer to just buy an s4 grille which is all black, and will it fit?

Since I plan on keeping the car for many years, I do not want to paint anything which will need to be repainted in a few years.

Does anyone have an idea of costs involved? Any recs for getting this done in the northern suburbs of Chicago?
