Hello, I have the standard stereo for my Audi A4 2009. Was interested in getting an aftermarket stereo. Would this be possible? I thought it would not be given that the stereo is connected to the display. Many thanks.

i have seen kits to install on ebay.de , keep in mind you will loose the screen and info on the center console next to speedometer.
pac makes kits for certain head units to keep the controls on the steering wheel.

The AM/FM/CD & SD will sound about the same no matter who makes the headunit. You already have a class D amp in the trunk that makes more sound than you should need. Not too much room for improvement there. The B&O system adds slightly better speakers and some sound field decoding not on the stock unit. Most people cannot hear the difference in the amplifiers.
Speakers, on the other hand, are very personal, very subjective, and can make all the difference in the world. There are several good makers that have made speakers to fit your car. It gets expensive because the speakers you have are not the junk car makers installed in the last century. They are actually quite good.
Find a seller that can demonstrate some speakers, then listen with your ears, and see if there is anything better than what you have.
