I have a portable hard drive connected to the AMI. I have noticed that it will run for about 30 minutes after turning car off. I have just gotten into the habit of unplugging it when I have reached my destination. this seems like a design flaw to me. Power should be cut to the device once the radio (engine) is switched off.
I am just curious if anybody noticed this type of behavior with their mp3 players/usb drive/ipods?

I'm not positive, but I think any device, including an iPod, connected to the AMI does the same thing. It's doubtful that 30 minutes of the small current draw a portable audio device has would come close to draining a battery. (If the audio amps were running for hours with the engine off, that would be a different story).
I've accidentally left a PND running for days at a time on my allroad's cig lighter receptacle (which is always on) with no noticable drain on the battery.
