Default V708 Centerbore work messup

Pre-ordered V708's in 18's with a onyx black finish for my 09 A4. problem is they called me up and said the clamps that were held down for the center bore work had made 3 scratches on 3 spokes on all 4 wheels. there offering me a 100$ discount.

Here is a picture they sent me of one of the 3 scratches on all 4 wheels. What you think i should do?

Damn..sorry buddy, I was hoping to see them on your car...100 off Per wheel sounds good.. but it sounds more like 100 off the total..

IDK..if it were me it would just bother me knowing that they were there..esspecially before you put it on your ride.

exactly my thoughts. i would know they are there. and they said 100$ off total. i e-mailed them to send me a picture of the whole wheel to get a better picture and distance of the damage. if its bad i want a full refund or a replacment of my exact order. paid nearly 1,000 for the Onyx black and bore work and shipping. not worth only 100$ off with 3 scratches each on every wheel.

Scratch? That looks like a replica of the Grand Canyon. A scratch could be polished out with a cloth wheel and some jeweler's rouge. That is a pressure mark caused by inexpert application of the fixture tooling to machine the wheel. I'd be a little worried that the clamp might have distorted the runout of the wheel.

I would never do any center bore work on a wheel without a final hone to assure a smooth round hole. I would then check concentricity.

I would ask for a do over. That is what happens in my business if someone scratches the film.

All said and done, if you can live with the scratch, a 60% refund would be in order. This would bring your cost down to less than $ 100. per corner.

Good Luck!

If it were me, I wouldn't be happy with anything less than 100% perfection when I received the wheels, regardless of the discount. Even if you think the damage is acceptable (which I don't), I wouldn't pay an extra penny for the custom (finish and bore) work they did, because they obviously did not do it correctly and don't deserve to be compensated for it.

If you're going to be paying $900, might as well pay $1000 for pristine wheels. I'd even rather pay $1000 for pristine, than $100 off per wheel for damaged goods.

well just got off the phone with them. Apparently they are having really bad luck whenever they send Onyx black finishes for Center bore work because it is more sensitive then there other finishes. Mine was one of the first finishes they sent for bore work. They are now offering me to change my finish or 200$ off my current price of 980$. *heres e-mail sent to me*

After further inspection, it looks as though the damage to the finish was a bit more than we had logged during the initial inspection. Due to the nature of the Onyx Black finish, it just seems like it would be improbable to get a perfect set to you because of the center bore work/process. It's a much more sensitive finish in comparison to the Gunmetal, Matte Black, and Hyper Silvers. Though we would recommend that you choose another finish to insure a perfect wheel after center boring, if you did have your mind made up on a set of Onyx Black 708s we can offer you a $200 discount on this set. Please let me know what you decide once the photos have been sent. I am very sorry for the frustration and headache this delay has caused.

With this said anyone that is thinking of getting center bore work done on onyx finishes maybe buy them stock and send them to a professional to bore them or don't get the finish at all apparently. he also sent me more pictures that should be coming soon. I will post them later tonight.
