Default Voice commands

In my Non-Nav pseudo MMI B8 A4, the voice command to place a call is : Select Name and the command to record a new name in Memory is: Name. After speaking out the command : Select Name and the name I want to call, the system repeats the name and you have to say DIAL

90% of the time when I try to use the voice command to place a call, the system does not seem to hear the first word of the command: Select Name and only understand NAME. After speaking out the name, it tells me that the name alredy exist in memory. Very frustrating !

Does anyone knows a more direct way to place a call than: Select Name + the name + Dial, I tried: Dial + the name, but that does not work. Maybe something like: the name + Dial could work ?

This command does not seem to work with the NO-Nav B8 (unless I only tried: Dial + name, but I do not think so...)

I'd like to know this as well. I don't have nav (ie "MMI-low") and placing calls is a multi-step process:

"Select Name"
- "The name please"
[Name]
- [Repeat back recorded name]
"Dial"
- "The number is being dialed"

Any other comments about this? Does anyone out there w/o nav use a different, shorter dialling method?

For what it is worth the method you describe matches my 06 WITH Nav. I now have 10 with Nav and can use the short method.

It was never that big a deal for me in the old car though...

Hmm -- not shorter, but I use

"Dial name"
--> "The name please"
"Name"
--> name playback
"Dial"

"call name" and "dial name" are equivalent, or does it just look for "name"?

Good to know, I will try it because my main problem is that with my French accent, it does not seem to understand the word "select" and it is trying to re-record the name and from there it just goes downhill !

I'm very happy with my Audi and the MMI, but I'm not a fan of the voice commands. My C63's voice is MUCH easier to use and much more clear. Starting the route guidence on my Nav using the voice commands is a joke. I just dial everything in. I can do this by voice in my Mercedes in a fraction of the time.
