I have been updated regularly by a Executive Case Specialist that Audi in Germany has been working on this hose thing for three months or more. Could be that they asked one or more dealers to test this new hose design in the wild to help verify their solution before cementing the fix globally. What seems like a simple fix must have been a lot more complex to resolve than meets the eye.

[QUOTE=Mobilehavoc;23796392]So recently I've noticed that only at very slow speed (usually when parking) when I turn the steering wheel from left to right or vice versa, at some point in the middle the steering wheel vibrates and there's a noise like the tires rubbing on the ground.

Audi said it is normal. Audi is not going to do anything about it now.

It is Rusnak Audi. They have a long history with Audi and close relationships to the service side because they are a competent shop. It is my experience that they have every VW tool specified to service the most complex issues.

I was told by a dealer on Friday that the low speed shuddering is normal on Quattros.

Baloney. Have him pull the TSB from a few weeks ago where Audi reports it's an issue they are aware of and are working on a fix. In fact, my AOA guy called me today to give me an update on the new hose they have been testing (and to ask me how the new control arms are working out on the high speed steering wheel shimmy issue). In fact, he confirmed to me a dealer in CA (mentioned by another poster) has been installing the new hose on some of their A4s for real world testing.

Your dealer is either giving you a line of bs or more than likely he's blissfully unaware of his Audi tech bulletins. I am constantly amazed at some of these dealer comments as reported on the Forum re some of these issues. You would think they would be up to date on this stuff.

Can someone tell me what that TBS # and issue date is? Either will work fine.

Sorry, I don't have the TSB number - it just said that there is a recognized issue with a low speed "shudder" felt through the steering wheel, that it's not safety related and a fix will be forthcoming. In any case it's irrelevant until the TSB with the actual fix comes down to the dealers from Audi.

Hello.

I'm signing in on this thread as well. Problem observed in my 2010 A4 2.0 Quattro Tiptronic.

Actually, I noticed this too on all the B8's I've driven as loaners while they were trying to fix the blasted control arm issue LOL

Yes, there is a TSB about this released on July 6 2009. The current status is "still under investigation". Audi states that "the condition will not impede the performance or use of the vehicle." so dealer now will not do any thing to try to fix the concern until they get repair instruction from Audi. Whenever they get a car in with the steering shudder complain, they will report to Technical Assistance Center. I would wait for them to release a fix. I would not let them use my new car as a trial.
