I notice when I first start out, I sometimes feel a quick strange scraping, metal hitting sensation like there's something under or in the pedal but it feels like it's under the car. It's hard to describe. Almost like maybe the throttle cable is stretching or hitting something (do we have throttle cables?) or there's a spring moving or a metal cord is hitting something. It happens quickly and only when I first start driving. It wasn't always like this.

I know exactly what you're describing and I've read that it's an ABS system check, but I'm not completely sure.

I too felt the same thing in my A4. I went to my dealership about this as I got a 2013 A4 for less than 1 month. The shop foreman drove with me in the car and felt it and immediately told me that is the ABS system startup test and is normal.

I would have never guessed it was ABS/brake related based on the feedback in the pedal. It's fairly noticeable. And to someone who is somewhat familiar with cars, it raises questions. It just seems odd that a ABS system check would cause these strange pedal sensations, if you will, but I'm glad other's have received answers on it.
