I all, I recently acquired a 2012 A4, but looks like the previous owner took the MMI cable with them.

I'm going to order a new one, but had some questions first.

I have an iPhone 6. I know the easy answer is to get the MMI with iPod interface. But I use my iPhone for much more than just music when I drive. Actually, I only have a few songs on the phone, and use mostly Pandora and Podcasts in the car. I do not want to go back to all the "manegement" involved with itunes, uploading/downloading song, creating playlists, etc.

Will the MMI cable allow me to listen to Pandora, or will it just render my iPhone to being an iPod, with playlists, songs, albums, etc. And when plugged into MMI, can I still use the iPhone like...well...an iPhone, with maps, streaming audio/video, youtube, web surfing, etc.

Also, will the phone charge while plugged into the MMI cable?

I don't know the answers, but I think what you are asking for (when searching etc) is "AMI cable". AMI= Audi Music Interface connects in the glove-box and has different adaptor cables for iPhone or USB devices.
