Default Wheel cleaning tips?

Yesterday was the first warm day we've had around here for ages, so I decided to give my car a good hand washing. I had cleaned my rims about once a week all throughout the winter, so I was surprised to find some really baked-on brake dust, especially on the front rims.

When soap and water wouldn't remove the stuff, I tried some cleaner wax. It got rid of about 90 percent of the grit, but there's still some left.

Is there any product I could use to remove the brake dust but not damage the paint finish of my rims? Thanks.

I find an old tooth brush is a great tool for dealing with stuff on wheels. Weekly care with a proper wheel cleaner is the only way I know of to keep your wheels looking new for years.

This stuff will last you years.
It needs to be diluted.

Make sure you read and are familiar with the health concerns related to that product (ABF).

Some caution on ABF:

Probably okay if used properly but you don't want to drink the stuff!

Once the wheels are clean, do you guys recommend any kind of wheel wax or sealant to help prevent brake dust build up?

Avant, you can, but drive the car a bit and you should witness almost no accumulation. They've recently changed pad formulation and there appears to be almost no dust on these newest cars, at least the basic B8 cars.
