While driving my brand spanking new A4 2 days ago a rather impatient woman in a 300C Merc flipped me off for not being in enough of a hurry. Don't let the wife become a "One of those Mercedes drivers".

My neighbour's boy friend used to drive a Mercedes, but she told him that for her, Mercedes drivers are fat pigs, so he finally bougth an A8.

Anyway, this story was so good that the name stuck, when we talked about the neighbour's boyfriend, we refer to him as the fat pig !!!

I just had to argue avant v. sedan with my wife. She didn't want another wagon, so I told her fine, give me the A6 S-Line Avant and you can get what you want. No deal, she's keeping the A6 Avant, and I'm getting the A4 S-Line Avant - JUST ORDERED!

She does have a point - not a lot of variety there. But hey, they ARE different colors and 2 numbers apart besides...

Moral of the story - let your wife decide...

Similar happened to me, although in my case she was more on the fence. I pointed out to her the cheap interior on C300 (knocking the dashboard helps and point out the tacky flip navigation) and mundane interior design.

I also told her that you get more value out of A4, i.e. 265hp v. 228 hp; leather separately ordered, etc. It really doesn't matter if it's true or not... As long as it makes sense to her. I also convinced her that Quattro (which comes standard) was superior to 4Matic on snow.

Is it really? I've heard it's a toss up. Both systems are active and very capable.

Well I am no expert; so I can't really comment on it. I think most AWD's are very capable. My point was that my wife was convinced that Quattro was better than 4Matic...
