I have 35% on my car. Like others have said there is a legal limit per state so check that out. A reputable window tinter should know these limits.

I recently tinted all windows including the windshield (yes I know that is illegal). I was interested more in the heat reduction aspect of it rather than the dark look. I decided to use a ceramic film (Huper Optik) 60% in the windshield and 50% on the rest of the windows. It looks like it is factory tint on the 50% and non existent on the 60%. I am very happy with it as I feel I accomplished my goal. My car is much cooler. I highly recommend the product.

Huper Stark ceramic 40 on sides and back, 30 on sunroof. Blocks heat, doesn't interfere with bluetooth and radio signals, not so dark that it impairs night vision.
