Hello, has anyone been able to retrofit CarPlay (Audi Smartphone interface) on a 2021 A4 B9.5? All retrofit parts on the Audi website don’t list my model as applicable but there are 3rd party websites that claim they can do it. I’m looking for an official solution and my local dealer has no clue saying there isn’t a solution for newer models like mine that use the MIB3 interface.

So you're saying Egypt does not have Function on Demand? FoD operations are apparently on a country by country basis. If you don't have FoD in Egypt, I don't know how you'd retrofit the Audi Smartphone Interface feature, which is nothing more than a software flag as I believe all B9.5 have the same PR-I8Y MIB3 infotainment system and USB-C (center console storage bin) and USB-A (center console front) full function ports present.

You'd have to look to hacking your J794 with rogue firmware that would allow insertion of the necessary FEC (FoD enablement code) to activate the feature, I'd assume.

It looks like 8W0 051 472 is only for MIB2 B9.0 vehicles. FoD is the only enablement mechanism for MIB3 B9.5, as there's nothing to do but "turn it on". It's a straight up question to your dealership, does Audi Egypt not have Function on Demand?

Unfortunately Egypt does not have Functions on Demand. The problem is that the dealer says if I hack or retrofit the Audi smartphone interface by a third party this would void the warranty but at the same time they - the dealer - don’t have a way to activate it officially. It’s a shame Audi sells a 2021 model without such an important feature and don’t come up with a way even if a paid solution to enable it.

Yeah, there's a lot of shame in modern corporate underachieve-ness. But they don't exist to make good product or deliver quality service, they exist to make the most profit for themselves per unit effort; "ROI is all". I have no idea what the national issues would be that FoD is/isn't allowed in country X. Did Audi say anything about why FoD is not there, and when that might change?
