Default Any point in getting VC without Audi Connect ?

So I don't see myself paying for an Audi connect subscription, it doesnt make sense for the money considering I already have an unlimited data plan on my phone. Knowing that, after the initial cool factor wears off and my 6 month trial is over, what functions do I still have with the Virtual Cockpit when there is no Audi connect plan? Obviously I lose the Google Earth, but are there any other must have reasons to go with the VC package in this case?

I thought you couldn't use an outside SIM w the 2017 A4?

I was under the same impression- that you had to do some coding to use an outside sim. Haven't tried it though. Heck, still waiting to take delivery of mine.

Besides Google Earth (which is silly anyway), I'm fairly certain everything else in VC will still work the same as when you bought it.

While google maps looks cool I think the standard map looks nice as well. VC is very fun to change around between speedo sizes, car info, music, etc.. I drove a non-vc loaner the other day and found it to be pretty boring compared with driving with the VC everyday.

I like using it when using navigation. I can have it zoomed in close and have the MMI screen zoomed out. It is nicer to look straight ahead then to the right to see the map.

On 2017 models, to get blind spot assist and rear cross traffic alert you need the tech package.

My B9 came without a SIM, I went on the live chat after purchasing my own and they told me it's still free, so they extended my license by a year. They did say it would eventually become subscription based, so if it hasn't already, I'd try that live chat on the Audi website.

I saw that but in 18 that's not the case. Plus with the color drivers information screen in the middle it's making the Prem + no nav combo even more appealing
