Is anyone running an apr tune with a tcu tune from another company? I just got an apr tune on my car and it would really benefit from a tcu tune. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use different companies for ecu and tcu tunes though.

The transmission is always shifting to far and too soon with the new powerband. It seems like it never wants to stay on boost and shifts right past it.

Yeah I'm always in sport mode. The apr tune completely changes the powerband but the stock tcu tune is still setup for the original powerband.

I have APR stage 1 93 octane program and the shifting seems great! Sport mode is smooth shifting at part throttle and tightens up nicely with more throttle. Even with drive select in comfort mode, pulling the gear selector to sport wakes it right up.
I’d love to hear from someone who did a TCU tune with just a stage 1 ECU to see if they noticed anything. I was told it just adds more pressure to the clutch packs to hold the torque created in higher tunes.

A TCU tune with a APR's stage 1 would be more of a money pit than a beneficial upgrade. The TCU tune would give you an ever so slight difference and a little more control, but I personally don't think it's worth the price tag with a Stage 1 tune for this car. The stock TCU tune will work fine and learn your new driving habits with ease. As far as shift times, are you referring to WOT pulls, or just day to day driving? Honestly with this engine (if referring to WOT pulls), I'm shifting around 5800rpm (red line 6800rpm) since anything after that, you can tell the engine is struggling to squeeze out consistent power. I have the manual transmission of the B9 and data log every now and then and its almost like I'm driving a completely different car when I pass 5800rpm.
So if your car is shifting even remotely around that area during sprinted driving, you're fine.
