Default Audi 8 speaker system

Hi, I’m soon going to be the proud owner of a 2021 a4 black edition. Lovely car apart from the pauper spec sound system and lack of a sub.
planning on changing the tweeters to the full range ones I had in my old a4 from Bruce Miranda. Also thinking of adding a compact active sub in the boot. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks

Why not just code the car to get the Audi Sound System configured. That will give you an output for a Centre speaker and a subwoofer. Then don't bother putting the OEM subwoofer, just use the subwoofer output for your aftermarket subwoofer amp and subwoofer.

The reason I suggest this is because the door speakers do not receive the really low frequencies you need to make your subwoofer sound good.

thanks Bruce. I was under the impression that the base system only has 80 watts and *** has 180? Do they use the same head unit and internal amp? Thanks

Yup hardware is the same. Outputs and power is limited by the software parameters. Anyone with VCP should be able to update the parameters for you. Its dead easy to do. And then it's just a question of taking the new outputs from behind the MMI and doing something with it. And I'm sure by now you know you can even enable the hidden Subwoofer control when you have the Audi Sound System.
Update the following addresses in module 5F
0x007204 (MIB3) or 0x003B00 (MIB2) to make the Subwoofer control visible.
And 0x007201 (MIB3) or 0x003000 (MIB2) to change the system from the 4 channel configuration to the 5.1 channel configuration.

Your 8 speakers have a pair of speakers connected to each channel. Just remember that once you code the system to a 5.1 system, you will get errors stored if there are no speakers detected on the outputs. Not a big deal, just need to know.

Hi Bruce,
I didn't know either it is the same MMI but differs only in the settings.
I have an OBD11, can i change the settings with that?
If yes, which option should i use coz i see a couple of options and don't know which one needs to be changed.
