Default comfort mode - free gear ?

Hi All, i realize in COMFORT MODE - i hit certain of speed e.g. 80km/h, the gearbox would free the gear, and RPM will drop to 1000. I thought this happen in Efficicnecy mode only but my happen in comfort mode also, does anyone of you experience the same??

80kmh is around 50mph. Not sure what gearbox you have but if its the 7 speed and youre cruising at 50, you could have dropped into 7th gear and that would put you around the 1k RPM range. The gearbox never releases all gears and puts it in neutral.

Sorry what I meant to say 90km/h, when I release throttle , it was from 3k rpm to 1k rpm, and the gear fro D7 - D (it really felt to neutral gear)

Does this happen frequently or only happened one time? When this happens, if you press the throttle, do the RPMS rise without the car accelerating?

The only thing that I'm aware of is that the car won't shift into 8th gear while in shifter is in S unless you have cruise control enabled. Otherwise, it'll go up to 7th gear and stay there. In D, which is the default for comfort mode, it'll shift up to 8th gear if it can. Also, you mention "efficiency", which isn't available in the US. Where are you located?

There is no 8th gear in this car.
I do feel this car has minimal engine braking power. At high speed, when let go with the gas pedal at cruising, feels like it's in neutral but the rpm stays at least in my car.

Just noticed that yours is S5 SB. You have the 8 speed Tiptonic torque convector transmission while the A4 has a 7 speed S-tronic DSG transmission.

Yeah, I noticed that this was the A4 forum when you posted. Sorry for the distraction.
